In recent news, Rev. Jeremiah Wright has been allllll over my television. Naturally I turn the channel otherwise I get upset. People continually link him to Obama and his beliefs, which Barack has publicaly denounced NUMEROUS times. I mean, how many times can one person say 'I do not agree with this person's beliefs'?! It's getting reDOGulous and actually insulting that the media thinks that ANYONE would continue to link the two together AFTER Obama has already separated himself from those beliefs. Seriously?
Now, I know it is bad to speak against God's anointed BUT I don't think speaking out against some of Rev. Wright's comments will send me to eternal damnation. #1: His comment about the chickens coming home to roost or whatever, I COMPLETELY understand where he is coming from. US policies allows for our country to think it can do whatever it wants and think its invincible. 9/11 was such a mind blowing event. I remember leaving english class early so we could watch the towers fall over and over and over again, and crying each time I saw the plane hit the towers. Rev. Wright was not saying that the victims of 9/11 and America deserved what happened that day, but what he was saying is what makes us think we are invincible? Americans sit back and watch the crisis in Darfur take place, sweatshops continue to under pay their employees, the crisis in Rwanda went on for years with no help from American authorities, etc. Tragedies happen all over the world, but when it happens on American soil, all other countries beware. We will blame anyone who even LOOKS like they are guilty. Speaking of, have we found Bin Laden yet? And where are those WOMD hiding? I'm not saying we should've sat back and let the terrorists attack us again, but I am saying a DIFFERENT route could've been taken. War should've been the last result because as we all know, evil begets evil. Once this is all over and the middle east sentiment against America has reached it's boiling point, what do you think is going to happen then? A+ Rev. Wright on this one. Maybe the media should've played your ENTIRE sermon, instead of the "racists" part of it. #2: AFRICAN and AFRICAN-AMERICAN CHILLUNS CAN USE THE LEFT SIDE OF THEIR BRAIN!!! I saw this mess and I had to turn my tv off. O.F.F. Rev. Wright we get it. You are angry with white america for the civil rights' movement you lived through. Yes, you obviously see that there are still blatant and obvious traces of racism left in today's society. We get it, but I'ma need you to sit down and shut it (and i say that with the utmost respect.) I think everyone who endorses a candidate should watch what they say. We know you are endorsing Obama, so why would you want to ruin the poor man?! I mean seriously, someone is milking their 15 minutes of fame for all its worth. It's like the democratic party is on this mission to self destruct before the November elections! With Hillary mud slinging and Rev. Wright letting his mouth do the walking and talking for the Barack, Democrats just can't win. AND THE REPUBLICANS DON'T EVEN HAVE TO LIFT A FINGER! Ugh, but back to the topic, children learning style is shaped by their environment, parenting, schooling, etc. NOT skin color. DUMB! DUMB! DUMB! I'm so angry with him for #1: believing this study without researching it for himself (How to bi-racial chilluns learn? Do they pick which side of the brain they wanna use? Right......keep it moving), #2: Once again letting his civil rights sentiment place blame on white america for the pitfalls of african american chilluns!, and #3: RUINING BARACK!
I'd hope that everyone (Elizabeth Hasselbeck from 'The View') would realize that everyone you are linked to/consider your close friend does not reflect your beliefs! I am a serious SERIOUS liberal who is married to a conservative right. CLEARLY we don't share the same values, except when it comes to Jesus and money. I have plenty of friends who are so very different from me, but I think that makes life so much more interesting. Life would be boring if everyone was like me (And let's be honest, would you really want to live in a world full of Raheas?) And on to my last point, I sat in a church for 18 years of my life who had most of the same ideals as myself, HOWEVER there were some really big ideals that I didn't agree with. I loved Pastor Adams, and my faith is deeply rooted in that church because that church led me to salvation, however, they didn't believe in female preachers along with other things. Did I leave the church? Nope. Did I believe EVERYTHING that was taught in that church? Nope. If I ever ran for president would my church background be used against me? Probably. Would I have to come out and clarify that I did not believe everything that church taught? Yes. Would the media still dig up old sermons and continually link me to that church and some of it's flawed beliefs? Most definitely. Just for kicks, could the media take my ethnic name (Rahea) and say that I am linked to Al-Quaeda in order to pit small town conservatives who already don't believe that I am a Christian against me? Oh, you betcha! AANNNNND there you have it.
